Critical
Manufacturing
Improving notification clarity and urgency recognition in a manufacturing execution system (MES).

Problem
The original notifications panel presented several usability issues that affected readability and prioritization, particularly in dark mode.
Notifications with different levels of urgency appeared visually similar, making it difficult for users to quickly identify critical alerts. Bright icons, limited hierarchy, and low contrast further reduced clarity.
As a result, users needed more time to scan notifications and understand which issues required immediate attention.

Solution
The panel was redesigned to improve hierarchy and make urgency levels easier to recognize.
A color-coded system was introduced to distinguish notification types, using red for critical alerts, yellow for warnings, and neutral tones for informational messages. Visual noise was reduced by softening icon prominence and improving contrast.
Special attention was given to dark mode, ensuring consistent readability and clearer separation between notifications.

Result
The redesigned panel allows users to quickly scan notifications and identify the most important alerts.
The improved hierarchy and color system make the interface easier to interpret in both light and dark modes, supporting faster responses to operational issues.
