Mountain Bike Rental App
Optimizing the booking experience for mountain bikers
Booking flow - simplified & efficient
Home Screen
The home screen presents a summary of key information, allowing users to quickly access what matters most:
-
User stats - Track your progress with daily data on days, distance, and elevation.
-
Upcoming events - Stay informed with highlights for group rides and competitions.
-
Quick booking CTA - Direct and easy access into the rental flow.
-
Explore & discover - Ads and curated trail recommendations to inspire new adventures.

Step 1: define your rental details
Location selection - Search by city or resort for finding nearby locations easily.
Dates & time selection - Pickup & Drop-off times to ensure equipment availability, with a focus on city-based searches rather than specific resorts.
Bike size & quantity - Multi-selection for group rentals.
Key decision: placing dates & location before bike selection prevents frustration when the desired equipment isn’t available.
Step 2: choose your bike
Categories - Focused on mountain biking (Enduro, Trail, Downhill, XC).
Availability & pricing - Clear cost breakdown.
Key decision: instead of overwhelming users with a long list, I structured bike types into tabs for easier selection. The app also allows users to filter by distance, price, and other common search filters.

Step 3: review & checkout
Final summary - A concise overview of all details (location, bike type, rental dates, total cost) to confirm everything before proceeding.
Secure payment - Smooth integration of mobile-friendly payment options (such as credit card, PayPal, etc.) to ensure a safe transaction.
Instant confirmation - A pop-up confirmation message with the option to download a receipt, ensuring the user can immediately access proof of booking.
Context
A UI/UX Design Challenge to create a mobile app for mountain bikers to discover trails, track rides, and rent equipment at resorts worldwide.
The project focused on designing a clear home screen and an intuitive booking flow.
Challenges and user needs
Cluttered information architecture - The app needed clear entry points to key features like stats, events, and rentals.
Multi-device adaptability - Ensuring a seamless experience on different screen sizes.
Design considerations
-
Minimalist UI to keep the user experience clean and focused.
-
Strong visual hierarchy – Clear CTAs and structured content for easy navigation.
-
Light mode palette – Optimized for outdoor visibility.
Solution
The solution focused on creating a User-Centric Booking Flow designed to reduce friction and improve usability. The flow is broken down into intuitive, step-by-step stages, which will be presented in sequence through the following screens.
